Withof Butterfly

Don't you just love this lovely butterfly? It is a pattern from Sister Judith from the Netherlands. She is the designer of the Withof Patterns. I love the movement of the butterfly.
It is made with 120/2 Egyptian Cotton.

Flowers of Key West

The flowers of Key West interested me into designing these lace flowers. They are done in a Withof Style of lace and were made with 120/2 Egyptian Cotton.

My Dancing Geisha Dancers

These two lace pieces are done in  a Withof Style. I designed them trying to use most of the withof techniques. I then put them on a photoshop page. Each is about 4 inches tall and were made with 120/2 Egyptian Cotton. I used some color Kreink threads in the fan dancer to accentuate the ribbon and the fan.

The Lace Maker

THE LACEMAKER
by Karen A. Trettel

The Lace Maker-
With all her lace supplies;
Watch her quick fingers
And her intent eyes.
Creating beauty,
She plies her art;
of creating lasting beauty
To please her heart.

Each piece is so special,
Made with love and care;
Could be a flower, a doily
Or something to wear.
Lovely colors, or pure white,
She strives for perfection
With her fingers in flight.

Now we are all gathered here
With our own styles of lace,
With a smile in our heart
As well as our face.

Let us create and teach
 this lace we share!
Don't bicker, criticize,
Scoff or compare!

Around the world
Lace makers live;
To collect, create,
Study and give.

So let's work together.
On common ground we will stand;
To learn and grow
And give one another a hand.

I Thought of You Today

I THOUGHT OF YOU TODAY

Today I read your letter,
Each word found a place in my heart.
How do I make you feel better?
Where do I make a start?
Seeing you are in turmoil today
Hurts to find out
That no one came to your assistance,
When you were down and out.
You are such a lovely person,
With such a love of poetry, lace and life.
Was it you mother's passing on
That hurt your heart so?
Dear remember it was her heart that gave you life.
So soon, she would not want you to go.
I pray for your recovery and wish I could be at your side.
I face my own demons, and also take time to cry.
When you need love, you know where to call.
The Lord waits, loves, and listens to us all.
With tears rolling down my face
As I write this to you.
Don't think of the worlds maddening pace.
 Make time and space for you.
Good luck my dear friend.
With Love and Prayers.

Lace Flowers

The lace leaves I designed while at Key West. They were growing everywhere and were very intriging.
Couldn't take my eyes off of them, had to draw them, then made them into lace.

The little flowers and leaves were an inspiration from a class I took in Ithica, N.Y. at an Ithica Lace Day. These were made with a 100/2 Cotton thread.

To Suzanne
My dear friend
We see through the same eyes.
Kindred spirits
We feel with our hearts.
Needleworkers
We work with our hands.
But we love with our whole being.

This cross stitched piece is on white linen, and measures 8x10 inches.
